No, its not a drink. The name is a combination of Yoga and Pilates and so are the exercises. Most people tend to think that Yoga and Pilates are the same. In fact there's a clear distinction between the two. Yoga focuses on stretching and lengthening the muscles, relaxation and meditation, you are also encouraged to breathe deeply into your lungs as you ease into asanas. Whereas Pilates focuses on strengthening the core muscles and postural alignment. You will be encouraged to isolate the core muscles and use lateral thoracic breathing. In Yogalates you will benefit from stretching and lengthening asanas of Yoga and core-strengthening postures of Pilates. We will start with static postures with a clear distinction between Yoga and Pilates. But eventually we will progress to the flowing sequences that combine postures from both. Personally I love teaching it and performing it and I am sure you will too. Contact me if you have any further questions. |
